Real Icicles

Real Icicles! Huge trees weighted down to the ground! Snow flakes the size of quarters! In Albuquerque! It’s a Winter Wonderland and wonderful it is! Do you know the last time Albuquerque had a white Christmas? I don’t…it’s been so long. This is going to be wonderful.
You see the flakes start to fall and the wind blowing and the icy roads and people turn grumpy. They don’t want to leave the house and they complain about having to drive in the snow and all the bad and inconvenient things that accompany a huge blizzard. I’m the opposite. It’s beautiful and wonderful and awesome. You drive in it because you have to…just go slow and you’re okay! The white fluffy top on every standing object and the fuzzy white glow in the sky, they make everything look clean. The world is clean and pure and peaceful when snow is falling. It falls down slowly, like it’s not in a hurry. They dance and play with each other on their way down. It’s all so beautiful.
Another case in point. I’ve been doing flower deliveries for the flower company this week. Taking gorgeous flowers and candy and trees and candles to people all over. They are always so excited to get flowers. They always say, “This just made my day!”. So I get done with my deliveries and I go back to the shop to check out and I stop to smell the gorgeous bouquet of white roses that is waiting to be delivered. I take a big sniff and comment on how gorgeous that smell is! The owner of the shop said that she forgets that they smell nice and that they are so pretty because she works with them every day all day. She takes it for granted that she gets to work with perfect, growing roses and daisies and carnations and pine and all the other s species of flowers that I can’t think of. They are only objects to her…ways that she makes money. She has to deliver them and arrange them and sell them and buy them and get the best deal from the nursery…green house…where do you buy wholesale flowers? So, because she appreciated my appreciation for the gorgeous flowers, she gave me a bouquet of a dozen pink roses to take with me. They were less than perfect, so they weren’t going to use them, in fact she took them right out of the trash to hand me. But they are gorgeous! Bright fuschia pink, open and happy. I took them home and put them in a makeshift vase and I’ve enjoyed them all week. I think maybe my new years resolution is going to have fresh flowers in the apartment more often. Regularly if at all possible.
So for all of you who are in danger of seeing the glass half empty this Christmas season, remember snow falling in huge flakes and gorgeous bouquets of roses. What could be negative about those things??
Merry Christmas!!!
