The Song of Deborah

So there's this woman in the Old Testament of the Bible who was the first and only woman judge appointed by God over Israel. We're studying her in a bible study on Mondays. What I'm learning and what I'm finding the most fascinating about Deborah is that she was a strong woman, respected by everyone, diligent in her work, a prophet, as strong as a warrior, a leader among all the people...and she did it all every day taking every direction from God. I'm sure she was up against some resistance from being a woman, but because of her reputation and because she was a woman who followed God, she was respected and listened to and was very successful. She said what God wanted her to say, did what God wanted her to do, followed the instructions of God, for God's glory and honor and not her own.
There's a lady in the group who finds Deborah appealing because of her strength as a woman. Some who admire her for her leadership skills. Some who are taken by her demeaner and attitude. I personally admire her intense focus on God to direct her life. That's the take-home lesson, kiddos. There's something powerful in there.
